Organize YOUR Home

With many people social distancing and sheltering in place, the past and coming weeks at home can get really boring really fast.  Well here is a solution.  Spring cleaning.  Life at home gets busy and with schools closed and parents working from home, the home can get even crazier.  If you have older kids, delegate everyday cleaning tasks for them to ease your burden and provide a sense of structure and order to the home.  With a plan in place for your whole family,  you can keep your home from becoming cluttered so it always feels fresh and enjoyable to live in.

Here are some affordable and easy ways to make those forgotten often frustrating areas of your home more organized.

Tackle the linen closet.

Sheets, towels, blankets, there are so many to count and they’re everywhere.  An easy solution is plastic shelf dividers.  This affordable solution can keep those stacks of towels and sheets from falling over onto each other give a nice clean look where it’s easy to find what you need.  When it comes to towels, make sure each one is folded or rolled the same way.  When it comes to sheets, make sure each one has a matching fitted or flat sheet and that each one is not too worn from use.

Pack up your winter clothing.

Since it is beginning to be springtime and the weather is getting warmer its a good time to switch out those warm clothes for your summer ones.  A great place to start is sort out each piece and look for ones that are becoming too worn from over use.  Have you worn each piece this season?  Will you wear each one again next season?  Those are two great questions to ask yourself.  After you sort, make sure each is clean and dry before placing them in storage.  Find a clean dry place in your home to store your items either in plastic bins or for easy access an under the bed clothes organizer.

Next up on the list, the pantry or cleaning closet.

A lot of people store household cleaning products under the kitchen sink.  Thats not a bad place, but not all cleaning products can fit under there.  What about the mop, broom, and dusters?  These items are put in corners and up against walls in the pantry where they fall down every time you open the door to get food.  Look no further than a wall mounted broom rack.  these can be attached to walls and doors to keep you brooms and mops from falling; out of your way when you don’t need them and easy access when you do.

Don’t look behind the TV.

Well maybe you should.  TV and entertainment centers can get cluttered quickly.  Between devices and their cords it can look messy really fast.  Many times this mess is in your main living area where your guests can see everything going on.  Cable management is a real thing and there are thousands of products that can help clean up your cord mess.  One easy and affordable solution is if you don’t need the full length of the cord use a rubber band or zip tie to keep cords from getting tangled.  If you do need the the full length there is a solution, a cable management box.  These boxes are great and have one cord going in and one opening going out to keep all cords tighter together.

The utensil and kitchen gadget drawer.

Many people use a utensil organizer for their silverware, but what about all the other kitchen gadgets from measuring cups and spoons to spatulas and whisks.  Not all kitchens have the luxury of space and having a dedicated drawer for each can be a challenge.  One solution is a unique organizing tray that stacks the silverware and allows the other half of the drawer to be used of your other gadgets.  Another thing that many people have on there counter is a knife block.  These items take up valuable counter real estate and can be easily placed in a drawer,  perhaps using a slim in drawer knife block that keeps your knives from damaging each other and frees up counter space.
