Common Causes of  House Fires in Kalispell, Montana

House fires can happen in a variety of ways.  It is important to watch out for the common ways fires can start and be aware of your soundings.

Kitchen Fires

One of the most frequent fire starters happens in the kitchen.  It is important to keep an eye on your stove and not let grease splash onto the burners and kitchen towels and loose papers away from the stove area.  What may seem easy, a busy family and a cluttered kitchen can lead to distractions while you cook.

Portable Heaters

When the weather gets colder it’s also time to watch out for fire starters in your home.  Electric heaters on the floor can be tripped on and can easily be knocked over.  To avoid this always place heaters in secure areas where kids and pets won’t knock them over and better yet look at purchasing newer heaters that have auto shut off switches when they fall.

Lastly, it’s candles that can really start a fire.  What starts as a small flame providing a quaint ambiance and refreshing smell in the home can lead to a smoke and soot covered house that will force you out of your normal routines.  Candles are perfect gift ideas, they make your home smell good, and provide a relaxing atmosphere during family dinners.  It’s important to remember to blow them out and always make sure they are out of reach of kids and pets.

We have YOU covered if it does happen.

Accidents happen and fires will start and fill your home with smoke.  It is important to deal with it quickly to avoid further damage.  When a disaster does happen it is important to have a plan in place and a team that can help you through it.  Packing up your house, taking an inventory of what is damaged and what can be saved, and cleaning it is a huge task and one that you don’t want to do especially after an emotional disaster like a fire.
